Welcome to MDP Brazil!

The MDP Brazil through its post-graduate course Master in Development Practive, is part of an international effort to educate a new generation of managers of the various sectors of society to deal with the multiple challenges of sustainable development around the world. This innovative initiative is internationally supported by the MacArthur Foundation through the development of The Global Master's in Development Practice Programs Network.

The Master aims to provide students with a solid education, skills and knowledge required to identify and address the global challenges of sustainable development such as poverty, population, health, conservation, climate change and agricultural productivity. The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has allocated $ 15 million to create MDP´s programs (Master in Development Practice) in more than 20 universities around the world in the next three years. After a rigorous selection process involving several universities in Brazil, UFRRJ was chosen to implement the Master in the country.

The international secretariat of this network is based on the Earth Institute at Columbia University and will serve with an umbrella organization that organizes and collaborates with MDP´s programs around the world, exchange of experiences, case studies, workshops and promoting intercultural and interdisciplinary learning that are fundamental aspects of this program.
